Julep January Maven Box

Before I go into my Julep January Maven box, let me introduce you to Julep.
Julep is a monthly beauty subscription service (yes, there are beauty subscriptions!) that costs $19.99 per month (US) and consists of nail polish and beauty products.  The price is great, especially when you take into consideration that Sephora sells Julep nail polishes for $14 a piece!  When you first subscribe on the site, you will take a beauty quiz which will determine your style profile.  Most profiles include 2 nail polishes and one beauty product. On the 20-24th of each month you can preview the products that will come in your box.  At this time you can choose to skip the month (this is one of the only subscriptions that I found that you can do this with), pick a different style, or you can sit back and do nothing and you will have your style profile box sent to you.  Your credit card gets charged on the 27th of the month, which is the day your box gets shipped.  Each month has a theme and comes with an inspirational card and a little surprise!

Another great thing about Julep is that you earn Jules (reward points)!  You get 100 Jules when you sign up, 300 Jules for each full priced Maven box you are billed for, 200 Jules on your birthday, 500 Jules on your anniversary month, 750 Jules when you pay for an upgraded box, and 1000 Jules for inviting friends who become Mavens.  You can then redeem the Jules for products or a free box! That's awesome!

My Maven style profile is "It Girl."  Their description of "It Girl" is "You're a colorful trendsetter who's not afraid to be bold."  Under this profile you get 3 limited edition polishes.  In the past I have opted out of "It Girl" and chosen another category (depending on the colors and/or the beauty product offered). I have also skipped months.

I subscribed back in June and received the July box and also purchased a Mystery Box (yes, they have Mystery Boxes!).  I have to admit that I was not very impressed with the colors or the quality, so I skipped a couple of months.  Come October, which I had planned to cancel but completely forgot. This was the BEST thing ever!!  When I received my Maven Box and saw the colors I was soooo excited (how many o's was that?)!  I absolutely loved the 3 polishes and feel that the quality has improved.  I have not skipped a month since.  I will go backwards and post pics and reviews of my past Maven boxes at a later time.

The theme this month is Boudoir Collection.  The inspirational card says, "2014 will be my year" which I love!  The surprise... two small, orange nail buffers that say Julep on them.  As an "It Girl" I received Farrah, Annemarie, and Hope.

Farrah has a silk finish and is an amazing lilac color.  This was the color that I was most excited for when I saw the preview.  I was not disappointed!  The color is great and I feel that one coat gives a lot of coverage.

Annemarie has a cream finish and is a beautiful, glossy cocoa color.  I was iffy about this polish, but it quickly became my favorite.  I absolutely LOVE it!  After taking the pictures for this blog, I just HAD to use Annemarie for my manicure and pedicure.

The last polish is Hope.  Described as a satin finish, Hope is a flat white.  This was my least favorite. Remember the chalk boards when you were a kid?  That is what this polish reminds me of, but in white of course.  Not to say that I will not use it, but this is more of complimentary color that you will use for one finger or add designs on top.

Overall, I would rate this box a 4 out of 5.  Great job Julep!

If you are interested in expanding your nail polish collection or just want to try some great products, sigh up for Julep.  You can use my referral link:

If you are a Julep subscriber, what is your style profile?  What colors did you receive?  What would you rate your January Maven box?  What was your favorite color?

Thanks for reading!
